"It's Not Luck, It's Hard Work!"

Principal's Message

3rd through 5th Grade Families,

As we approach spring, we want to inform you that students in 3rd through 5th grade will begin state testing in April and May. These tests, developed by educators in Oregon and other states, serve as important tools to evaluate your child's academic progress.

This is an opportunity to challenge children to think critically and apply their knowledge across various contexts during these assessments. Beyond simply choosing multiple-choice options, students will be asked to explain their answers. This deeper engagement will provide a clearer snapshot of their understanding and skills.

Please understand that these tests are just one piece of information used to determine your child's academic success. However, these assessments help schools and districts assess their teaching and learning systems, identifying areas where improvement is needed and ensuring that every student's needs are met.

By participating in state testing, students are contributing to the broader understanding of how well our public schools are performing within our community. Your child's teacher will send more details in the future. In the meantime, please read the following information about state testing, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Julia Bradley, Principal
