Meeting a Sherpa Who Climbed Mt. Everest 17 times

Making learning come to life is always the goal at Cascade. Students from Mrs. Burns and Miss Wilson's classes at Cascade Junior High School are reading the novel Peak, about climbing Mt. Everest. Tuesday they got to video conference and ask questions with someone who has reached the summit of Mt. Everest 17 times! You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

Lakpa Rita Sherpa lives now in Washington, but he was born in Nepal and started guiding climbs of Mt. Everest in 1984 when he graduated from high school. Not only that, but he was the first Sherpa ever to summit the highest mountain on every single continent! He finished the Seven Summits in 2009 when he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.
The students asked questions for an hour, and loved all that they learned! An amazing day of #everydaylearning at Cascade.

Career Exploration Day at Turner Elementary

Turner Elementary held a Career Exploration Day Thursday! Thinking about what happens after high school graduation is something we help our students think about WAY before high school. They need to see what's out there to begin dreaming about what they want to do with their lives!

NICU nurses, realtors, dance studios, veternarians, first responders, construction, dairy farmers, orthopedists, interior designers, and more came out today to talk with students about what they love about their careers and what it takes to get there.

Seeds were planted today! You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.
