Cascade Schools took advantage of grant money from Federal and State sources to carefully evaluate the condition of our buildings. We want to share the highlights from these assessments with you.

On Monday, Cloverdale Elementary held an assembly to honor Veterans. Each class prepared a patriotic song or poem, the 5th graders memorized and recited the Preamble to the Constitution, and we had the special gift of a song from one of our Veterans.

As each student left, they shook hands with the Veterans who were there.

Thank you to all who served!

Veterans were honored at Cascade Junior High School at an assembly on Monday, with a presentation of the colors by the Boy Scouts, singing and music from the Jr. High and High School band and choirs, and a poem written by a student.

Each veteran was introduced along with their years of service and their branch. They answered questions about life in the military and how it helped them.

Hands on learning is the best! In eighth grade science at Cascade Junior High School, students are learning about energy. They need to create a turbine that has a string that must be able to wind up and lift an object.

As part of the Oregon Department of Education’s Statewide School Facilities Assessment, every public school in the state is being carefully reviewed to understand current conditions. Each assessment looks at key areas, including:

• Building systems like roofs, windows, plumbing, and HVAC

• Electrical and mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficiency

• Safety and security features such as access control and fire systems

• Accessibility for students, staff, and community members

• Site conditions such as parking, traffic flow, and grounds

Huge shoutout to everyone at the Opportunity Center on Wednesday! Students and staff kept it chill, ate some amazing pie, crushed some popcorn, and focused on the real assignment: gratitude!

There are so many great things about how our community supports our students!

Kindergartners at Turner Elementary drew their dream hat, and one of the student's grandmothers knitted that exact hat for them! Wow!

Students from Cloverdale Elementary had a visit from the Department of Forestry today. They learned how trees are made into pulp to make paper. But even better, they made paper themselves!

Turning toilet paper into pulp and then forming it into a new sheet of paper was a great hands-on experience! You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

We want our whole Cascade community to know that the memorial service for Michael Rosenau, Instructional Assistant at Aumsville Elementary School and a Cascade grad, will be on Saturday, November 22nd in the CHS Main Gym at 10:00am.
